Campers' Barn Rental FAQ:

Q. Are there any special requirements for renting an RV from Camper's Barn?

A. The renter (customer) must possess a valid driver's license and be at least 25 years of age. Any additional drivers must also be at least 25 years of age, and present, on the scheduled departure date with their valid driver's license.

Q. Is a down payment or security deposit required?

A. A $300 reservation fee (per week of rental), all of which is applied to your security deposit, is required when you secure your reservation. A security deposit, usually $2500, is required (in addition to your rental charges) on the scheduled date of departure and credited back to you on your scheduled return date. The security deposit can be lowered to $1000 if you pay a $10/day fee (minimum charge of $50).

Q. Do I have to provide my own insurance?

A. No.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. If the reservation is canceled 21 days or more before the scheduled departure date, 50%of the  deposit is refunded. If the reservation is canceled within 21 days of the departure date, no refund can be granted.

Q. Is there a minimum amount of time that we have to rent?

A. Our standard minimum rental is 3 nights.

Q. When can I pick up my rental?

A. The rental period can not begin on a Saturday or a Sunday. Pick up times are between 1:00pm and 5:00pm on day of pick up. Time of pick up is set by appointment. We will allow you to pick up on Saturday or Sunday but the rental period would begin on Friday. As a courtesy, we will try to accommodate you if you would like an earlier pick up time. However, this will not always be possible and can not be guaranteed.

Q. What is your return policy?

A. Rental units must be returned by 11:00am on their scheduled return date. Unauthorized extensions will be charged at the unit's equivalent daily rate plus a $25/hour late fee. The fuel level must be returned at the same level that it was given to you. There are no refunds or credits on early returns.

Q. Do any of the motor homes you rent come with generators?

A. All of the motor homes we rent are equipped with generators. It is not necessary for normal vehicle operation to use the generator. 4 hours per day generator use is included in all motor home rentals. Extra hours will be charged at $3.00 per hour.

Q. Do you charge for mileage and if so how much?

A. We do not offer unlimited mileage on any of our rentals, however, the first 100 miles per day are free (averaged per paid rental night). The per mile rate, after those miles are exceeded, varies. Please ask one of our rental reps for the rate breakdown.

Q. What happens if the RV we are renting experiences mechanical difficulty?

A. Although this is a very unlikely scenario, since all the RV's we rent are well-maintained, we do provide Emergency Roadside Assistance with every rental. We subscribe to Auto Club of America and all of our motor-home rental customers have this available to them. This package comes with a 800 number which can be called 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.

Q. Can I smoke in the RV?

A. Smoking is NEVER allowed in our rental motor homes. Failure to observe this policy will result in a $200 penalty.

Q. Can we bring our pets along?

A. Yes. However, a $125 fee (per pet) will be charged. We must have advanced notification if you plan to bring pets.

Q. Do you charge a cleaning fee?

A. If the motor-home is returned in a less than reasonably-clean condition, we will charge a fee of at least $95. Otherwise, we don't charge a cleaning fee. Please note that renters are responsible for emptying the waste tanks before they return the motor-home to us. Failure to do so will result in a cleaning fee being charged.

Q. Do you charge any other fees?

A. Yes, during the winter months we charge a $75 Winterization fee.

Q. Do you allow towing with your rental motor homes?

A. Towing is only allowed with our class C motor homes, and a $15 per day fee must be paid at departure. You must inform us ahead of time if you wish to tow a vehicle. Please be aware that the towed vehicle is not covered by our insurance. Renters are fully responsible for any damage caused to (or by) a towed vehicle.

Q. Are there any travel restrictions you impose on your rental motor homes?

A. Our rental vehicles are not allowed in Mexico or on beaches or logging roads.

Q. Since there is a built-in ladder on the back of the RV can we use the roof to transport our luggage?

A. Access to the vehicle's roof is forbidden. Ladders on rental units are for use by Camper's Barn personnel only. Customers are responsible for any roof damage.

Q. What happens if I receive a traffic ticket or parking citation while operating one of your rental motor homes?

A. Customers are responsible for reporting and payment of all parking / traffic violations at rental termination. Non-reporting of parking / traffic violations breaches the Rental Contract and will result in an administrative charge of up to $100 in addition to the fines.

Q. During our trip am I required to perform any maintenance on the rental RV?

A. While all fluid & air pressure levels are checked before any rental RV is released to a customer, you are still required to maintain fluid levels in the engine and the generator, and to maintain air pressure levels in the tires during your trip. In the event of an accident, it must be reported to the proper law enforcement authority immediately, and to Campers' Barn as soon as practicable, but in any event, within 24 hours of the accident.

Q. How will I know how to operate all the extra appliances and electronics that an RV comes with?

A. We conduct a "walk-around," on the day you depart, to ensure that you are comfortable with all the RV's features & accessories before you depart.

Q. Do I need a special driver's license to rent / operate one of your rental motor homes?

A. No, a special license is not required.

Q. What type of gas mileage do your rental RV's get?

A. Obviously there are many contributing factors which determine the gas mileage you will get, however, a good rule of thumb is to expect 8-10 MPG.
